Ceramic House!

Whoever thought it was a good idea to make a ceramic dolls house was wrong, its not easy at all, very difficult as a matter of fact. I'm one of these stupid people who thought it was a good idea to make a ceramic dolls house as I'm re-thinking the whole doll house idea. I still wanna make the house, its just stressing me out at the moment because the walls are collapsing in on itself as the roof is too heavy I think, the paper clay was a bad idea as well and the decorating the whole thing is stressing me out. God knows how Im gonna make this house.

Its has been going alright when I first started the house building process but as Steve wanted to go 50% bigger, I did and it all went wrong from there. I think I'm just having a bad week or something because nothing is working out the way I want it too, so I'm taking myself out the ceramic circle and spending the next week in embroidery studio to work on my final pieces in there. I'll come back to house in a week when I sorted the problems out or having a better week, hopefully.

Do you remember as a child at Easter, what ever year of primary school you were in they always made you make something to do with Valentine, Easter or Christmas (any holidays). I didn't get why they make us do these silly thing but as I'm get older, I still make silly thing all the time I don't need a special occasion just to make something this is my life, Ill hopefully be doing this for many years to come.

Hate these birds really do.

As this is my life and I can do what I want (within reason). I'm gonna be doing something this year for Easter, and maybe try and sell some of them (dunno how yet, any ideas how?). You know them really ugly fake birds, that I remember from childhood as my mother make a very lovely hat with these ugly chicks on for nursery school (that did kind of freak me out as child) I wanna try and make some of these birds but with an contemporary feel to them, try to make them cute as well so you would want on these on your child hat from nursery.

I'll keep you updated on the how the birds are coming along :)

Blind Spot

The project Im working on this term is Blind Spot. I've taken Blind Spot and interpreted it to create the theme I'll be working toward this term, Behind Closed Door. The idea came to light when I was at the briefing and the curator was discussing the project, like how we cud interpret the word then she said 'happy families' I then began to think about my own interests in certain genres of literature and the books that I own and read in my spare time; my most favourite book and is a big influences to this project, Don't Tell Mummy.

Week 7 - Currently Im at the half way point of the project. This is my work space in the studio, very happy at this point of the project as I feel like Im on track with this project. I've still doing sample but only for a few more weeks (2 weeks - ?) and I've started a prototype for my ceramic dolls house too.At this point Im feeling pretty good with myself :D Hopefully it stay this way for the rest of the project. We will see :)
